The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment in collaboration with the Ministry of African Integration, NEPAD and Francophone in Senegal is organizing a “Senegambia Free Movement Day” scheduled for 1st March 2018 in Amdalaye-Karang Border.
This celebrative day will mark the start of the annual Free Movement Day between our sister countries to strengthen one of ECOWAS most essential protocols, The Free Movement of Peoples, Goods, Right of Residence and Establishment.
The meeting will bring together actors from Trade, Customs, GCCI and Immigration, Manufacturers, Transit Traders, Women in cross border Trade, The Gambian Association of Life Stock Dealers, Transporters, Ministries, Youth Organization and other relevant stakeholders to this daylong event.
The objective of this symbolic event is to raise awareness on the importance of free movement between the two countries
- The Ministry will organis a multi-stakeholder discussion forum on current challenges to the free movement of persons and goods in the light of the main community instruments and mechanisms;
- Collect from stakeholders the concerns or recommendations related to the free movement of people and goods;
- Help strengthen the sense of belonging of local population to the same community as well as strengthen our bilateral cooperation in the implementation of ECOWAS programmes.
